Revelation chapter 10

Updated: Jul 24, 2022

Literal translation of the Greek:

Revelation 10

1 and I saw another powerful messenger descending from heaven surrounded by a mist(cloud) and a rainbow upon the head and his face was like the sun and his feet were like pillars of fire(or lightning)

2 and he held in his hand a little scroll(book) to open and placed his right foot upon the sea but the left upon the earth

3 and he cried out in a loud voice just like a lion roaring and when he cried they spoke, the seven thunders with their voices

4 and when they spoke, the seven thunders with their voices, I was about to write and I heard a voice from the heaven say to me, seal that which the seven thunders spoke and do not write it

5 and the messenger whom I saw stand upon the sea and upon the earth lifted up his hand to the heaven

6 and he said by He Who lives into the ages the ages(lives forever) Who created the heaven and all in it and the earth and all in it and the sea and all in it that there will be no more time

7 but in the days the seventh messenger sounds, when the trumpetblast is about to fulfil(execute, complete, accomplish) the secret(mystery) of God like the bearing of good news(gospel) by His servants the prophets

8 and I heard a voice from the heaven again speaking to me and saying, go down take the scroll(book) and open it in the hand of the messenger standing upon the sea and upon the earth

9 and go to the messenger saying to him, give me the scroll(book) and he told me, take and eat it and it will be bitter in your belly but in your mouth it will be as sweet as honey

10 and I took the scroll(book) from the hand of the messenger and I ate and in my mouth it was as sweet honey and when I had eaten it was bitter in my belly

11 and he said to me, you must again prophesy unto many people and tribes(nations, gentiles) and tongues and kingdoms
